Jaymes Young | Dark Star EP

Discovering an artist like Jaymes Young is the very reason I continue to write a music blog. For this to be my very first encounter though is quite shameful really considering his debut EP serves as one of the most compelling listens I've heard in months. Perfect on a gloomy morning like today blending subtle pop tones with hints of RnB results in a whirlwind of despair and heartbreaking turmoil. Armed with oscillating basslines and one of the freshest voices I've heard Jaymes Young manages to create outstandingly beautiful music, his vocal control really is something that needs to be heard. To think all of this is created in a bedroom is quite hard to comprehend through his ability to switch dynamics from ethereal to anthemic in a split instant. With stripped back electronic elements formulating in sleek musical arrangements his debut EP is sure to stand the test of time as Jaymes goes on to achieve even greater things.

The debut EP ‘Dark Star’ is available now on iTunes. Jayme is currently out on the road supporting London Grammar on their UK tour. Full dates below.
