Phoria | Emanate
It's hard to believe it's been almost a year to the day when I first came across Brighton's Phoria and their enigmatic blend of grippingly intense, minimalistic synth work. Following a whirlwind year for the band that saw them explode across the blogosphere to much acclaim the five-piece return with news of their forthcoming 'Display' EP set for release in June through X Novo. With its soft and subtle intro, Emanate, the first track from its release, furthermore showcases the quintets compelling take on modern day music through their divine use of swirling vox samples and ethereal calm. Lulled in to a false sense of serenity the track suddenly breaks in to a euphoric crescendo as synths cinder and burst in to flame from their airy rise as the percussion becomes drowned by its pulsating melodies. Fall in love above. We most certainly have.
