Having been beguiled by Marika's plaintive tones for quite some time now it's by no surprise her latest release has branched even further in to the depths of endearment. As the EP closes out on a cover of Joanna Newsom's '81 we get a chance to witness Hackman's ability in capturing someone elses emotions and relaying them in such a way that complements the original, yet still adding a whole new dimension. I guess Joanna Newsom isn't the easiest person to cover yet Marika Hackman has done a sublime job in serving her justice. The 'Sugar Blind' EP will be released 9th December via Dirty Hit Records.
