Anyone who's frequented the pages here in the last year will know just how far my love for Flyte extends. So much so I think I've covered everything they've released thus far since splashing on to the scene last summer with their balmy single 'Over And Out'. Flyte have (for lack of a better pun) well and truly taken off, the selling out of headline shows, debut 'Live' EP and triumphant support slots on Bombay Bicycle Club's recent UK tour only going to show just what they're capable of. New single Light Me Up follows in suit nicely from their previous aforementioned release, yet with this new found maturity we gain a greater sense of achievement, each swirling layer acquainting us ever more with their heartwarming character. From jangly, tropically infused melodies to funky new-wave troubadour's, Flyte really seem to be on to something great here. Speaking of the new single the band go on to say: 

“Light Me Up is about someone wrenching you out of a depressive state, it's about first love. When you're in a period of feeling low you feel like a tree that that's covered in vines, stopping the air and the light from getting to you. It stops you writing or being creative and nothing moves you to get up and go anywhere or experience anything. Falling in love makes all of that go away, you can see colours properly again and hear songs in your head and write them down. It's about shade into light, black and white into technicolor.”

Light Me Up will be released 17th Novemeber through Turned Out Nice / Island Records. You can catch the band out on the road this Autmn as they headline the ‘DIY Presents Tour 2014’. Check out the full list of dates below.
