Waxahatchee | Air
When you've had a pretty rubbish day, you really need a pick-me-up to get you through. Okay, in the grand scheme of things getting soaked by a little rain and having to spend £24 to post back two pairs of shoes doesn't really constitute to a rubbish day, but heck, I've had funner moments. Thankfully Waxahatchee returning with her new album 'Ivy Tripp' on 6th April via Wichita Recordings is more than enough to shake me from of this mood. “The title Ivy Tripp is really just a term I made up for directionless-ness, specifically of the 20-something, 30-something, 40-something of today, lacking regard for the complaisant life path of our parents and grandparents. I have thought of it like this: Cerulean Salt is a solid and Ivy Tripp is a gas.” explains Katie Crutchfield.
The first single to be lifted from its release is the wondrous Air. Powerful and emotionally charged it's the kind of track that aches to be played again and again. Through its strung out guitars and expansive verses the track shows a real divinity with a much more grown up sound to what was divulged on Crutchfield's previous LP. Just wait for that soaring uplifting chorus to take you away! You can Pre-order 'Ivy Tripp' now on limited-edition coloured vinyl via the Wichita shop and receive an autographed poster, while supplies last: http://smarturl.it/ivyphys
