Running a blog, things can get pretty samey, pretty quick. It's not long before you start to see patterns in music where everything begins to sound exactly the same as everything else. A guitar line borrowed from here. A synth tone lifted from there. Thankfully acts such as New York's The Ugly Club exist to break the mould and shake things up with their unique take on experimental pop. New single The Lonely demonstrates this pitch-perfectly with a whole concoction of their funky basslines and groovy melodies to breathe fresh life in to an otherwise mirrored musical world. I think it's safe to say we'll be hearing a lot more from The Ugly Club in the coming months. Take a listen above for yourselves.
