Clean Cut Kid - Runaway
Driving home a distinct lofty aesthetic in their sound, Clean Cut Kid burst on to the scene back in June with their insatiable debut single Vitamin C. Returning with Runaway, the four-piece readily instill a confidence that strides ahead of the pack as their matching capabilities prove once more why they're one of my favourite newcomers. Already proving masters of diversity, in contrast to their first effort their follow up deviates from sparse and intrinsically plucked guitars to an immediate rush of pulsating synths and thundering percussion. "I wrote 'Runaway' about an hour after I'd spent the last tenner, of the last instalment, of my final year student loan" explains Mike Halls. "It’s a song about feeling beaten before you've even started the race, and that moment when you realise that there are just some things you'll never escape". Take a listen for yourselves below.
Runaway will be available digitally on September 3rd through the band’s own Babe Magnet Records/Polydor with a 7" vinyl set to follow on October 23rd, backed with b-side Jean.
Clean Cut Kid are Mike Halls, Evelyn Halls, Saul Godman and Ross Higginson.
