Benjamin Francis Leftwich - Tilikum (Video)

With a shared sense of loss, Benjamin Francis Leftwich marked a wonderful and very welcomed return at the start of this year following his heartfelt note posted on Facebook. Writing about grief is never easy, I'm sure anyone who has had to go through such a terrible thing would know this all too well. Everyone has their own coping mechanisms and there's no right and wrong way of doing things. With BFL it would seem his music and writing served to be his much needed grounding. For me, it's the escapism of mountain biking. When you lose a parent or close relative, your whole world changes. Though nothing ever makes the pain and turmoil you feel go away, you will learn new ways to live with it. Before reading his story, after watching the new video and hearing his words, I already knew it was about loss. It's the brilliant way BFL has for conveying such searing emotion. "I really wanted to film something special in a desolate but beautiful part of the world to convey the sense of loneliness and desperation vs future and hope that i feel in the song" explains Leftwich. Effortlessly capturing this, the track's video serves as a perfect companion to its isolated sound through the vast and expansive landscape found within the foothills of Dartmoor. Take a watch for yourselves below. Thank you Ben for such wonderful music.
