Sounding like a wonderfully energetic mix of Bombay Bicycle Club meets Lion Bark, Liverpool's We Were Glue return with their bluesy new single Birthday. Steadily built from its softly sung intro, the band's latest effort gradually unfolds in to a gorgeous crescendo of jangly melodies and soaring guitars all before you're thrust in to the unknown. "The song is about when my girlfriend forgot my birthday and why it pissed me off", explains singer Michael. "I wrote the lyrics the weekend after my birthday in December, and we put the music together in the studio in March. When it came down to tracking we still didn’t know what to write to tie the last two sections together, so ended up not bothering at all and just left it silent".
