Everything Everything - The Mariana

Last week saw a somewhat surprise, yet very welcomed, EP release from Everything Everything, sharing two brand new tracks, a remix and a Neil Young cover. Today the band have unveiled the video for EP track 'The Mariana', a poignant and self-detaching single that tackles male identity and depression. With the dust only now settling on their recent fourth studio album 'A Fever Dream', they've wasted no time before jumping straight to it, striking while the iron is hot, here going to show their incredible and diverse songwriting prowess. Take a watch for yourselves below, the track's emotions captured beautifully through the sepia toned strobe-light flashing video. Speaking about its conception, frontman Jonathan Higgs explains, "The song talks about male identity and the current high rate of suicide among men in the UK, I wanted to capture some men in a natural setting - no actors or contrived sequences. I settled on amateur football as it's so closely allied to male identity, and a game is a good place to look for unguarded emotions, separate from the everyday. We filmed The Granada Old Boys at Manchester Tennis and Football Centre, in the shadow of the Eithad Stadium."
