Should they ever give up the ghost to seek out alternative careers, I'm sure Leeds-based outfit Marsicans will find themselves well suited as weather prsesenters - given our recent forecast at least. As we basked in a glorious weekend of sunshine and beer, the indie-pop quartet's latest single played true to its namesake as they returned on Friday with Pop-Ups (Sunny at the Weekend). With breezy melodies and tones backed with James Newbigging's buoyant vocals, the four-piece set about crafting another stellar effort in harmony led guitar pop. "I came back into the rehearsal room one day and found (drummer) Cale playing a riff on my guitar" explains James. "When I got home from rehearsal with the riff stuck in my head, I was watching a film online and got a pop-up ad along the lines of "Wow, look how much money I've made." It got me thinking about the people in life that make all these false promises to you and try and get you into their crazy schemes. Lyrically, the song is basically just poking fun at those chancers." Take a listen for yourselves below.
Marsicans are:
James Newbigging - lead vocals and guitar
Oliver Jameson - guitar and vocals
Rob Brander - bass, keyboards and lead vocals
Matthew 'Cale' McHale - drums and vocals
