I keep making a stand to myself to post more home-grown talent from Wales, and never truly get around to it, so what better way to kick off a brand new month than with Cardiff-based outfit Angel Hotel. Digging through my inbox, two weeks ago saw them release their debut single Key Largo, which draws inspiration from a burning passion of movie soundtracks. In their own words Key Largo is a 'heartfelt, honest account of modern life full of reflective introspection and hopeful optimism backed by a driving pop rhythm and an anthemic closing climax'. Achieved through elongated guitar licks, infectious vocals and a climatic crescendo, the band's first outing demonstrates just what they're capable of.
