Anyone lucky enough to have seen Fat Dog live will know all too well about the chaotic energy the band unleash, but for those who are still waiting for the upcoming tour dates, their latest single will be just enough to tie you over. Perfectly encapsulating their expulsion of pulsating synths and dazzling melodies, the band's latest single Wither is a brilliant introduction to what occurs on stage, all neatly wrapped up in a studio package. The video directed by Ryan Vautier and inspired by 90s video games is knowingly awash with unnecessary somersaults and wonky graphics. With a nod to Chris Hughes (keys/synth) and Morgan Wallace’s (sax/keys) onstage dance to “Wither”, the gameplay sees the five-piece traverse different worlds meeting bone dealers and singing skulls to come together and fight the final boss Gerald. Will the whole team survive? Vautier said of the video direction “I wanted it to feel like a real PS1 or 2 game that I would have played when I was a kid – Fat Dog’s music has the chaotic energy me and my brother had, smashing down soft drinks and arguing over who got the top split screen.” Take a watch/listen for yourselves below.
