Florentenes - What it Takes

Today sees Manchester's Florentenes return with their blistering new single What It Takes. Serving as the third release from their highly anticipated second EP, HOMEGROWN, due 16th May 2025, the track builds steadily towards its climatic guitar finale as a rush of energy lifts to dizzying heights. Speaking on the single, Luke Holding says “What It Takes is one of the very first songs I wrote - originally inspired by ‘Dead Boys’ by Sam Fender, the song quickly became a 70s-influenced rock song, where Pink Floyd meets Fleetwood Mac. The lyrics explore an arrogant, closed-minded view on the struggles of addiction that unfortunately many people have. The track starts slow, and quickly builds into a huge chorus and a massive, up-tempo ending.” Take a listen for yourselves below.

Fronted by William Smith (vocals, songwriting), Florentenes also features Luke Holding (lead guitar), Harry Stubbs (bass), and Liam Fiddy (drums).

2025 UK tour dates:
19th April - Feel The Noise 2025, Wolverhampton
3rd & 4th May - Sound City, Liverpool
24th May - Neighbourhood Weekender, Warrington
